guidance for courses for 1 year during engineering

First year of Computer Engineering .having lots of fun but fell short of attendance and now I have been detained from writing the 2nd sem exam.

I have to give it in dec with kt students.then again wait fr 6more months and 2nd year with next batch.

its not that I'm not serious about education.

iit : 84 (not qualified)

Also I'm not eligible for IIT now.

can you please suggest me some courses which I could do so that my year is not completely wasted.
I wish to persue a career in research department and also have a keen interest in pure sciences and Mathematics.
